Barbra Streisand’s Love is the Answer is a two-CD set, produced by Diana Krall. Interestingly, the two CDs have identical songs from Streisand but the first CD has the backing of a Diana Krall-led piano quartet while the second is garnished with the backing of a string section.

This album is quite superb. Streisand’s great voice, hitherto heard mainly in the realm of popular or Broadway-style singing has been persuaded to sing jazz ballads clearly due to presence of jazz singer Diana Krall as both producer and piano accompanist on this recording session. There are twelve extremely well chosen tracks. These are ‘torch’ songs which instantly create an atmosphere. Ballads such as, ‘If You Go Away’, ‘A Time for Love’, ‘Here’s that Rainy Day’, ‘Smoke Gets in your Eyes’, ‘In the Wee Small Hours’ and our favourite on the album, ‘Some Other Time’ are masterpieces.
